Selective focus. My tried and true way to shoot. It was the first thing I wanted to master when I got my DSLR 3 years ago -- even moreso when I got my macro lens (100 mm). I enjoy highlighting one tiny detail in a composition, or even better -- as in this image -- having one detail and lots of negative space where the light can just do its magic. I call this approach 'painting with light.'
Plus, this little guy looks like E.T.
