Reminds me of The Matrix. The traitor is eating steak and says something to the effect of "I know it is not real. But it still tastes so good!"
I was actually thinking of this last night. If my kids are right and I've deluded myself concerning a vital walk with the Creator of the Universe...so be it. It's a more full life, I believe.
